Friends' Visit to Coventry Cathedral 24 September 2026

Over 30 of us had a wonderful tour of the Cathedrals in Coventry. You will see from the photos that we saw the amazing new Cathedral with its stunning stained glass and amazing architecture. The main entrance gives the first impression of what is to come as you can see from us all pictured under the angel.

The Cathedral that was bombed during the war was truly moving. The roof completely collapsed leaving the spires at either end. The tallest had to be secured as it was a little like the Pisa Tower. You can see from the photos the fabulous sculptures which have been added to the open space. Two pieces of burnt timber remained on the floor after the bombing,  looking like the cross, they were saved and can now be seen in the new Cathedral.

After our visit we had lunch at The Greyhound at Sutton Stop. We had the restaurant to ourselves to enjoy a fabulous meal followed by a walk along the towpath in the sunshine. The day was topped off by a most fabulous sunset on the way home.
