New Area Dean for Saffron Walden 

The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Rev’d Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani has announced that the Rev’d Gary Fleming will be the next Area Dean of Saffron Walden.

Since 2024 Gary has served as Vicar in the Benefice of Clavering with Langley, Arkesden, Wicken Bonhunt, Manuden and Berden and will take up this additional responsibility alongside his parish ministry.

Commenting on the appointments, Bishop Guli said:  “I am delighted to announce the appointment of the Rev’d Gary Fleming as the next Area Dean of Saffron Walden. Area Deans play a vital role in the life of our diocese, offering support and encouragement to clergy as they serve their local communities. Gary is faithful and committed and will bring his own particular skills and experiences to his new role and I’m grateful for his willingness to take on these additional responsibilities. I would also like to thank the outgoing Area Dean, the Rev’d Jeremy Trew for his service and contribution.” 

Gary will be licensed to this post at St Nicholas’ Church, Berden at 4pm on Sunday 24th May. All welcome
