Rev'd Romey Poston joins our Team Ministry

Romey Poston High Res-ed-800Ashdon and Hadstock welcomed a new parish priest after three years without one.  The Rev'd Romey Poston was licenced by Bishop Roger of Colchester at All Saints Church Ashdon, to the Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry as an Associate Priest on Tuesday 2nd September 2025.

Romey says " What a joy it is to have moved to this beautiful part of the world, everyone I meet has been so warm and welcoming.  One of the privileges of moving around a lot in my earlier life, was getting to meet lots of people with their different backgrounds and cultures and, as I am completely new to this area, I really look forward to getting to know you and all the local history that make this place so special. I have lots of treasures to discover.

In my first months, I will be concentrating on getting to know the communities of Ashdon and Hadstock, but I look forward to getting to know more of Saffron Walden and the other villages in the team in due season.

In the meantime, if you see me out with my black labrador, Inca, do say hello. It will be wonderful to meet you. “

More about Romey Poston

Romey comes to us from the Oxford Diocese where she has served as the curate in the Langtree Ministry Team, also serving in the market town of Henley-on-Thames and in the City of Reading. She was brought to faith as a child by a Franciscan from Alnmouth during her time at a Christian foundation school near York and her faith has been the guiding light in her life ever since.  She was a licensed lay minister in the States but volunteered in churches and with charities in South Africa, Pakistan and the Caribbean.

Romey originally hails from Yorkshire but has spent most of her life overseas, working initially as a foreign correspondent before becoming involved in setting up a cross-border aid programme to Afghanistan when it was under Soviet occupation.  A career in aid administration followed before marrying a diplomat, who sadly died in 2007 when their three children were still young.  Now all grown, they still visit regularly so you may well meet them.  Romey loves going to art exhibitions whenever she can, and enjoys gardening and a good sing.
