The process and timetable for the appointment of a new Team Rector and Area Dean is outlined below. It has been agreed with the Archdeacon (Robin King), and the Patron, the Crown’s representative, Helen Dimmock.

A joint meeting of the PCCs of the nine parishes took place on 20th February 2020 to provide the legal response to the Notice of Vacancy and 18 Parish Representatives were elected.

Work on the Parish Profile was completed at the end of February. Over 70 suggestions for amendments were received and have been taken into account in arriving at the final version.

The Steering group consists of Denis Tindley (St Mary's churchwarden), Judith Hasler (team facilitator) , Alex Jeewan (team vicar) and Clifford Want (publicity officer).

The advertisement and Parish Profile appeared in the Church Times, the Chelmsford Diocese website and our own website during March. The process was paused as churches and the whole country locked down as a result of COVID-19.

The post was readvertised in May and June and a shortlisting process took place in early July;  Whilst there were some encouraging applications, the selection panel agreed that there was not a sufficient field to proceed to interview.

The post is now being readvertised in September with a view to interviewing in late October.

This is a Lord Chancellor's appointment, but for an informal conversation about the post, or to request an application form, please do get in touch with Robin King, Archdeacon of Stansted email

Helen Dimmock, who is the Lord Chancellor's ecclesiastical secretary, met all the parish representatives via Zoom and will be part of the interview panel.

The Archdeacon has selected the remainder of the interview panel in consultation with Helen Dimmock. There will be opportunities for representatives of each parish, clergy and lay, to meet the candidates and provide feedback to the Archdeacon.

Please continue to pray for the success of this process, for all those involved and for the candidates.
