Home Contact Calendar Help at Special Times Music St Mary's Church Christmas Fair 12 December 2009St Mary’s Parish Church in Saffron Walden was packed last Saturday morning (12th December) as a steady stream of visitors sampled the delights of the St. Mary’s Dickensian Christmas Fair. All sorts of bargains were to be found at a wide variety of stalls ranging from handicrafts to the tombola, and Christmas crackers to home made cakes from stallholders dressed as Victorian characters from the books of Charles Dickens. The highlight for many children was meeting Father Christmas. Visits to the bell tower and organ loft proved very popular. Mrs Beaton's Bistro provided excellent refreshments, with carols from the brownies and a lively selection of jazz favourites on the piano.£4905 was raised, which will go towards maintaining the building and the work of the church in the town. CHRISTMAS FAIR A huge thank you to everyone who gave so generously of themselves and contributed to the amazing total of £4955 (and rising!) The number of people welcomed to this event was a great encouragement to us all and there have been many favourable comments received about the tremendous atmosphere, clearly created by a sense of unity and the warmth and jollity of the occasion. Well done everyone! Bill Rose. (And thank you Bill for organising this event). Thanks to Steve Hasler for the photos. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.
