Vacancy for Parish Administrator
St. Mary’s, Saffron Walden has a busy and thriving Parish Office which opens every weekday morning in the Parish Rooms. Run by the Parish Administrator and a team of some 15 volunteers from the congregation, the office acts as a central hub for enquiries, bookings, and parish resources as well as producing and distributing weekly and monthly publications for St Mary’s, the villages in the team ministry and other local churches and charities.
Following the retirement of the current post holder, we are now seeking a Parish Administrator to work for 20 hours a week, Monday to Friday, to manage the day to day running of the Parish Office and the Parish Rooms, coordinating the volunteer team and working closely with the Rector’s secretary and the Weddings Coordinator. A brief look at the work of the Parish Office will show it is very wide ranging and the committed help of experienced and newer volunteers is essential to its effectiveness. The successful applicant will be a good manager of volunteers as well as being prepared to undertake any of the work themselves. They should have a good knowledge of church life and the ability to engage positively with a wide variety of people including clergy, congregation, users of the buildings, and the wider public.
The work of the Parish Office is a fundamental part of the church’s mission and ministry in Saffron Walden. The Parish Administrator will be working closely with many committed Christians and will often be the first person someone encounters when they contact the church. This is an opportunity to use your gifts of management and administrative skills in God’s service.
